Will blogging still be worthwhile in 2022?

I read an article recently about this topic, and it outlined all the reasons to avoid starting a blog in 2022. Funny enough the person who wrote the article is still blogging. If I hadn’t started my blog a year ago, I would probably reconsider. Since I started my blog, I’m going to share my two cents about starting a blog in 2022.

If you’re new to blogging then this is for you. When I started my official blog, The Drama Free Club in 2021, I HAD ‘ZERO’ KNOWLEDGE ABOUT BLOGGING. I went on Google and I read tips from top blogs, Neil Patel, Moz, Semrush, and Ahrefs. I also read answers from Quora spaces. That’s how I discovered these top blogs. I carefully applied those tips to my blog, and they have been working for me. Is blogging dead in 2022? Here’s what you should keep in mind if you’re planning to start a blog.

  1. Blogging isn’t just about writing good content. Traffic is the lifeblood of every blog. You need people to see your content and the only way they’re going to see it is through free and paid promotion. You need to find ways to get more eye balls for your content, and promotion is a big player in your blog's success.
  2. Before you start your blog acquire some  knowledge about website analytics, link building, DA, PA, SEO, SERP, content marketing, website layout, page speed, website theme, mobile friendliness, etc. You’ll soon realize that these are more important than writing blog posts. All of this information is available on the blogs I’ve mentioned above.
  3. You can’t follow everything that other bloggers say. The internet is filled with blogging tips. If you’re not careful they will get you confused. Don’t try all of them! What works for other bloggers will not work for you. You’ll have to create a strategy that works for you and stick with it.
  4. You must be willing to go the long haul. Blogging requires a lot of time and patience. The results will not come overnight. Prepare yourself!
  5. Be willing to read. Don’t just go head first into blogging. Avoid making the same mistakes that other bloggers made. It will save you a lot of time and frustration. Find the time to read. Don’t expect to be spoon-fed. Read, understand and apply. I spend a lot of time reading tips from pro bloggers. I also pay attention to the type of content that they are sharing.
  6. Research the competitiveness of the niche that you're entering and determine how you’re going to stand out. Pay close attention to influencers in your niche. Study the type of content that they are sharing. You'll also need to figure out how you're going to differentiate. Otherwise, you'll just be creating a, 'me too blog', and regurgitating content that is already flooding the internet.
  7. Get a domain name. Free blogs don’t rank that well. I wish I had gotten my domain name earlier for my official blog. It will help to make your blog look more professional.
  8. Get active on social media. Quora has contributed significantly to my blog traffic. Not all social media platforms are helpful, even though your target audience is on there. I spend the majority of my time on Quora, We Heart It, and Twitter because I’m more dominant on those platforms. Yes, Facebook is good, but I don’t get a lot of engagement on there. Stick to platforms that you’re receiving the most engagements on and claim your presence there.
  9. Give your blog a professional look.

I hate reading blogs that appear tacky. You can easily tell that the blogger just dragged something up. Spend some time to make your blog look presentable. Choose a nice theme. Update your author’s profile. Add beautiful photos. Make your blog posts readable and digestible. Don’t just blog for your taste. Make  a great first impression. Give your readers something that will keep them coming back for more.

10. Be original.

Don’t be a copycat. You can’t expect to be doing what everyone else is doing and stand out. Keep your content original. Own your voice!

Is blogging dead in 2022? As a blogger, I’d say no. But you must be willing to work smarter if you’re going to stand out in a crowded marketplace. What is it that you’re willing to offer? Why should readers choose your blog when there are millions of other blogs on the internet? What makes your blog a one in a million? What will you offer different?
